I've just invested in new 10.000 rpm scratch disks, 4 GB of 1066 Mhz RAM and a pimped Core 2 Duo and a fresh Mobo to gain some extra speed, but there are a few free tricks to boost performance in Photoshop. Here's some good tips (by T.Morris) if you want to speed up things in Photoshop for free.
1. Apply the "Stamp" filter to your image 2. Print it in scale 1:1 to fit your canvas 3. Get yourself a carbon paper from the bookshop 4. Trace your image on the canvas 5. Paint by numbers Done!
